This tool provides international calorific unit conversions for nutrition, physics, engineering, and many other fields.
Basic Calorie Calculation:
Q = c-m-Δt (Q is heat, c is specific heat capacity, m is mass, Δt is temperature difference).
Fuel heat calculation:
Solid fuels: Q = m-q
Gaseous fuels: Q = V-q
( (q is the calorific value in J/kg or J/m³)
Unit | Conversion value |
---|---|
1 kcal(kcal) | = 4.184 kJ(kJ) |
1 kWh(kWh) | = 3.6 MJ(MJ) |
1 British thermal unit(BTU) | = 1.055 kJ(kJ) |
Notes:
• Food energy labelling commonly uses kcal(kcal), Kilojoules are recommended for international standards(kJ)
• The engineering field recommends the use of megajoules(MJ) or kWh(kWh)
• Conversion results are retained to 6 significant figures
